Faith in the fluctuations

I was just thinking about how its such a blessing to grow old. The perspective is so beautiful with someone who has endured suffering, and lived and learned and has grown older because its as if that person has seen the ups and the downs in the world, the suffering, the stressful times and the non stressful times, and there is less fluctuating within with the fluctuations.  I think thats why faith works, because faith separates us from the situation and relies on trust and faith in God to bring us through the situation. While on the conference call with my dad and stef i was bringing things up and my dads response to what i was saying and what stef was saying was sometimes - yes but its always been that way.  The perspective of seeing things, the ups and the downs,, the stressful and the non stressful allows for that wisdom, and faith furthers that wisdom because we can then see that we don’t have to fluctuate with the fluctuations. How could Jesus face his death on the cross? How could he face that suffering and separate from the despair of that moment? I think its only because of the faith that the suffering would end.


It reminds me of that quote "This too shall pass".

Communion - such a deeper meaning

 Communion - I love the idea of communion and the actual practice of communion.  Even the name, communion, means to meet or to commune with God. For me it is an exchange, so I can come to God and ask for forgiveness and compassion and mercy and Jesus offers that to me when I eat of his flesh and drink of his blood and receive his sacrifice for my sins, for me to be right with God. And in this receiving this connects with deeper with God and allows me to understand the sacrifice Jesus made more and more each time I have communion.  I love that it is both a devotion and a worship and that its a private moment with God amidst many other people also taking communion.  Usually in church I see people with their heads covered with their heads in a deep prayer, each person alone with God in their own place in life and in their own relationship with God.

Giving and Receiving - a story

 Here's my latest story,  hope you like it! I wrote it after reading Mark 4:24 "He further said to them: "Pay attention to what you are hearing. With the measure that you are are measuring out, you will have it measured out to you, yes, you will have more added to you.  For whoever has will have more given to him, but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him."  It always amazes me how beautifully the bible is written, Jesus is the genius of metaphors:)    Hope you enjoy it! John 9:39 - Sin, pride and blindness

John 9:39 "Jesus then said: "For this judgement I came into this world, that those not seeing might see and those seeing might become blind." Those of the Pharisees who were with him heard these things, and they said to him: "We are not blind also, are we?" Jesus said to them: "If you were blind, you would have no sin. But now you say,  "We see." Your sin remains." This verse is really interesting and took me a moment to sit with and understand.  I think it relates to pride.  He's talking with the Pharisees and they were known to be prideful in their understandings and beliefs and this is something that kept them from believing in Jesus.  It seems that Jesus is saying that if the Pharisees had the humility and felt the suffering of blindness, they would have less pride and be more like a child of God and therefore, no sin.  But because they said "we see", its almost as if they are saying "we know", as if their previou...
